Native Sons Professional Fishing Team
Rocky Van Hoose and Peter Deeks, Jr.
Native Sons Pro Fishing Team is one of the rapidly rising stars on the three national professional redfish tours of the FLW Outdoors Redfish Series, IFA Redfish Tour and Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup. Televised on ESPN and Fox Sports Net these tours is experiencing meteoric success with national television ratings now challenging the well established professional bass tournaments.
The team consists of veteran Rocky Van Hoose, with over thirty years of tournament experience, and the youngest full-time member of the redfish tours, Peter Deeks, Jr. It is proving to be a perfect blend of experience, energy, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Bursting onto the national redfish scene in the spring of 2005, they had immediate success finishing a stunning 16th in their first FLW competition (out of 137 professional teams) and three top tens in IFA Redfish Open events.
In 2006 Native Sons Pro Fishing Team competed in 13 tournaments located in 10 different venues across the Southeastern United States. They finished among the top teams on the tours - tied for 19th overall in the FLW Outdoors Redfish Series Eastern Division among nearly 250 professional teams and finishing 25th in the season-ending IFA Redfish Tour Championship, after an overall ranking of 11th in the highly competitive Florida East division of 200 teams. There was even a first place in the only local tournament in which the team competed, besting a field of 130 anglers.
Besides competing in the national tours, Native Sons Pro Fishing Team occasionally served as guest clinicians at Bass Pro Shops in Orlando, Florida and assisted in the staging of local children fishing clinics. Finally, both Rocky and Peter were frequently found on the local waters of Brevard and Indian River counties as popular guides.
Despite the success of 2006, the outlook for 2007 is even brighter with a potential of 22 national tournaments on the schedule. In addition to the rigorous tour schedule, the team hopes to expand their national presence through their top three website (according to Google and Yahoo search engines), blossoming writing endeavors (already includes two nationally published articles), hosting local charity fishing events and, most importantly, actively promoting the sales, products and prestige of their sponsors.
